R U Ready?

Are you ready for Christmas? School is out (or should be by the time you read this). The “Winter Holiday” band and choir concerts have happened. The decorations have been up in your house for awhile (and in the stores since about July). You might even have your Christmas shopping done! Are you ready? Good! That’s what this season is all about.

Though people have been saying “Merry Christmas” for the last couple of weeks, it’s not Christmas yet. It is Advent – the time when we prepare for Christmas. Sure we use the time to prepare all the “stuff” of our lives (does anyone want to wrap presents?). But more importantly, this is a time when we prepare ourselves to celebrate the coming of Jesus.

I love the Christmas story. Camels, donkeys, sheep, who knows maybe even a llama. Mary and Joseph. The full inn. Wise men. It’s all cool But the best and most amazing part of the story for me is that God, the creator of everything and ruler of the Universe, decided to come and live among us in order that we might come to know him better. Awesome.

So, if you’ve been too busy running around, take some time in the next couple of days to get ready for the true happening of Christmas!
