Announcements

NO HS FX THIS WEEK. MS (7TH AND 8TH) MEET AS USUAL: There will be no High School FX this week (they will still be trying to warm up after their polar bear plunge!) but the 7th and 8th graders will meet as usual (5-6:30). It’s a great night to bring a friend!

12/14 LAST FX OF THE YEAR – BABY SHOWER FOR JESUS – FAREWELL FOR STEPHANIE (SHH): In two weeks, we’re going to have an awesome party during the FX time. We have some awesome games planned. Awesome prizes too! Again this year we are asking each student to bring an awesome package of diapers for “Jesus”. Now, since Jesus isn’t a baby anymore, we’re going to give the diapers to Choices, an awesome shelter for victims of domestic violence. Because we want an awesome variety of sizes, please buy according to the following list. (Buy the cheap brand. Confused? Buy whatever!):
If your t-shirt size is/buy size:

  • S/Infant or new baby or 0-5 months
  • M/Baby or 6-12 months
  • L/Toddler or 13-24 months
  • XL/Preschooler or 24+ months
  • XXXXXL/Whatever size you want!
Also: 12/14 will be Stephanie’s last Sunday with us. She told us at the beginning of the school year that she would be moving to Cincinnati with her family sometime and that time has come. As part of the evening, we will be loving on Stephanie… but don’t tell her. That part is a surprise!
Also, also: What are we going to do once Stephanie leaves? After several days of crying and some gnashing of teeth, we are going to recover nicely. All of the adults who have been working with the youth will continue and Pastor Brian will be back. The church is in the process of finding a new director and they are currently interviewing several qualified candidates. Look for an announcement soon. In the meantime, please add Stephanie, her family, and the search to your prayer list.

STUDENT MINSITRY HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOURS – THURSDAY AFTERSCHOOL UNTIL 4:30. RIDES AVAILABLE FROM COFFMAN HS: Come and bring your friends to Open Hours in the youth room. This Thursday after school until 4:30. Play the Wii. Challenge the reigning world indoor Corn Hole champion! Hang out! Do homework (as if)! We have cheap food (yummy hot pocket anyone?)! Get here on your own, walk here from Jerome or catch the church van from Coffman. (Coffman Van Riders: Meet the van in the teacher parking lot after school. We will leave when the busses leave so don’t be late. You must have a completed permission slip (download it here). YES! Friends can come too. If you know you are coming and want a ride, please RSVP. If you’re late, I will leave you… just ask Logan.)

ATTENTION 10-12 GRADERS – MOST AWESOMEST OPPORTUNITY: One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had is now available to you. A group of great people is offering a weekend event, called Chrysalis, to older high schoolers from across Columbus. Much like the adult Emmaus walk, this will be three day that I am confident God will use to touch your heart. The girls retreat is January 17-19 (MLK Weekend). The boys retreat is February 14-16 (President’s Day Weekend). Cost is just $65. Grab a friend and go! Registration information is at http://www.chrysaliscares.org/registration.htm. I will happily sponsor you. Just be sure I know you are wanting to go! You need to register before school is out to save your spot!
