Student Ministry STuff

this week is the baby shower for jesus: On December 9th we’re going to have an awesome party during the FX time. We have some awesome games planned. Awesome prizes too! This year we are asking each student to bring an awesome package of diapers for “Jesus”. Now, since Jesus isn’t a baby anymore, we’re going to give the diapers to Choices, an awesome shelter for victims of domestic violence. Because we want an awesome variety of sizes, please buy according to the following list. (Buy the cheap brand. Confused? Buy whatever!):

If your t-shirt size is/buy size:

S/Infant or new baby or 0-5 months

M/Baby or 6-12 months

L/Toddler or 13-24 months

XL/Preschooler or 24+ months

XXXXXL/Whatever size you want!

Sign up for Fundraisers: We do some awesome things in the student ministry and some of them cost real money. To help you pay for them we have a number of upcoming fundraisers that are easy and allow you to serve others. Sign up on Sunday or with Joan Williams (joanw@columbus.rr.com).

· Help Santa by making elf calls Tuesdays and Thursdays, December 11, 13, 18, 20 (evening)

max and ermas fund raiser monday: Invite your family to go out to dinner at Max and Erma’s on Frantz road this Monday, December 10th to support the student ministry. Pick up a coupon at the church and give it to your server and twenty percent of your bill will be donated to student ministry missions. Don’t miss this tasty way to support others!

Attention 10-12 Graders – Retreat just for you: One of the coolest retreat experiences I’ve ever had is now available to you. A group of great people is offering this retreat, called Chrysalis, to older high schoolers from across Columbus. Much like the adult Emmaus walk, this will be three day that I am confident God will use to touch your heart. The girls retreat is January 19-21 (MLK Weekend). The boys retreat is February 16-18 (President’s Day Weekend). Cost is just $65. Grab a friend and go! Registration information is at http://www.chrysaliscares.org/registration.htm. I will happily sponsor you. Just be sure I know you are wanting to go! You need to register before school is out to save your spot!

check out the new website: Our website is new… and improved! Browse on over to www.indianrunstudents.org. There you can find out what is happening with students, check the calendar, and so much more! We’re still working on pictures and other sweetness. Go look… just don’t tell your dentist!

Song Leader Workshop: Do you play the guitar? Are you interested in helping to lead worship for the students? We’re putting together a group of people to go to a Son Leaders’ Seminar Friday evening and then Saturday, February 22 and 23. The cist is $45 and space is very limited. If you are interested, email me (bgath@indian-run.org).

Upcoming Missions

Spread God’s love Christmas Eve: On Christmas Eve over a thousand people will worship with us – many who will be new or only come a couple of times a year. Due to this great opportunity we go out of our way to make sure that they are warmly welcomed and we do everything we can to make their experience a positive one. To accomplish this goal, we need additional ushers and greeters! If you are friendly and are willing to serve at one of the services (5pm, 7pm. 9pm, or 11pm) please email Beth Filler (bfiller@indian-run.org). We’ll even train you if you’ve not done it before!

Good Works Walk for the homeless: We will travel to Athens Ohio to raise awareness of poverty and homelessness in the rural parts of our state. Mare your calendar now for Saturday, January 19th, 7am-2:30 pm.
