How long will it take to read this? I just timed my (slow) reading and I got 66 seconds. Did you know that 29,000 children die each year from hunger, poverty, and preventable diseases? More than 15,000 die from hunger alone. That is one every six seconds. That’s just stupid. There is no good reason people should be dieing from a lack of food and that they are makes me mad. So I’m going to do something about it and I want you to help me.
This Friday I invite you to join many others on the 30 Hour Famine. Here’s the deal. We get people to sponsor us to not eat and the money goes to feed hungry people. Last year we raised more than $4000 (that’s enough to feed eleven kids… for a year! Every thirty dollars you raise feeds a kid for a month. Find information below. Pick up forms and collection packets on the Student Ministry Kiosk. You must SIGN UP if you are going to participate. Yes friends are welcome. This year the cost is $10. We’re asking everyone to raise at least $30 but last year the average was over $100.
One more thing… last year the boys raised more money than the girls so the boys slept in the youth room (on the futons). Same competition this year. Whichever gender raises the most $ gets the youth room… the other gets a nice hard floor. Come on guys! Get some donations!
By the way, in the time that it took you read this, eleven children died of hunger. Be seen! Be heard! Be hungry! to help end hunger in our world.
