Wham! (Announcements)

Win a Wii, a $150 Gas Card or other Great Prizes at the Fall Kickoff!: The Student Ministry Fall Kick-off for 7th-12th graders is this Sunday 6:30-8PM. Free t-shirts to the first 100 people. Come early for best size selection. Bring your friends and enjoy carnival games to win great prizes. Sign up for small groups. Meet Chris Farley (not really). Meet new adult leaders (one of whom looks a LOT like Chris Farley). If you’ve not been part of the student ministry before or if you have a friend that you would like to get involved, this is a GREAT opportunity to get connected! Eat first, we’ll have snacks but NO DINNER this week.

Small Groups (Mostly) Begin Next Week: What grade are you in? Doesn’t matter ‘cause we have a small group for you! Sign up Sunday (morning or night) to be part of a great group of people who will support you and help you to feel the love of God while becoming more like Christ. Sweet.

Staffing Changing: Though Stephanie has been on our paid staff just long enough to know when Pastor Jim is teasing, it looks like she will be moving to Cincinnati later this fall. We sure love her and the work she has been doing with Student Ministry but her husband Brad has a new job in the land of Skyline Chili. As the Stoppenhagens sell their house and move, Stephanie will be transitioning off our staff. Though we are going to miss her, church leadership is committed to ensuring that Student Ministry doesn’t miss a step. In addition to the continued presence of our ever expanding volunteer staff and Pastor Brian, the church is beginning a search for a new, part-time Director of Student Ministries. We’ll keep you posted as things develop.

new leaders: We couldn’t keep the secret any longer. The students at Indian Run are AWESOME and we have adults who love Jesus and like students banging down our doors to work with you. Here are several of the new folks who you will see leading FX and small groups this year:
Grant Downes – former member of TBDBITL but NOT a former member of the special forces (so far as you know)
Sam Magee – who is psyched to be working with the high school
Jeff and Julie Horner – ask about the floor in their home dedicated to all things Ohio State
Michelle Leining – see if you can find why her email is “turtlechell” – there has to be a story behind that!

Check out the pictures from this Summers mission: Did you go on the Student Ministry Summer mission and want to relive the good times? Are you thinking about going next year and want to see how dirty people really get? Have you heard of Jeremy’s awesome Frisbee skills and want to see for yourself? Did you go with us by investing in the mission through prayers or a financial gift? Then you’ll want to check out the pictures on Howard Baulch’s website. Very nice.

Student Ministry Team Meeting Monday: Adult and student leaders! God has some awesome stuff in store for us this year. God wants to bless this ministry. The question for us is, “Will we allow God to use us to accomplish God’s plan?” Join us Monday at 7:30 PM to learn about this year’s goals and to make plans with your specific ministry team. I know you’re busy… we need you anyway!
