Announcements

Middle School (7/8th) Only Canoe Trip, October 12thSunday, Oct. 12th, we are heading to the Birch Bark Canoe Livery in Urbana, OH. (birchbarkcanoelivery.com)  The cost is $12.00 per person.  You need to RSVP with your money by THIS SUNDAY Oct. 6th to reserve your spot.  The plan is to meet in the back of the church parking lot at 11:45.  (That means there is time for you to go to the 9:30 service, go home change clothes, have lunch, and get back here in time to leave.)  If you plan on falling in the river (even if you don’t plan on it) I would recommend bringing a change of clothes and towel.  We will be bringing snacks and drinks for everyone.  Don’t miss out on this trip!  If you have any questions e-mail Stephanie at:  sstoppenhagen@indian-run.org.

Student Focus Sunday:  As part of the Continuing the Journey – Forward in Faith Campaign (to raise funds for the Family Life Center) the church is going to celebrate Student Focus Sunday on October 26th at both services.  We’re looking for students who are willing and able to help at one of the worship services (read a prayer, scripture, usher, greet, do special music, sing with the choir, walk on water, etc.).  You could wait by your phone until we called you, but you might as well hit “reply” right now and just volunteer to serve in some way.

July in Christmas – High School ONly Retreat:  You have heard of Christmas in July, but have you ever heard of July in Christmas?  All 9th-12th graders and their friends are invited to come on a High School only retreat to Lakeside.  Lakeside is an entire Methodist community in northern Ohio off of Lake Erie and they are opening up the place for us!  Have you ever wanted to participate in a Polar Bear Plunge?  How about miniature golf outside in December?  What about a weekend with your friends thinking about God surrounded by an entire community which supports you?  So save the date December 5-7 and don’t forget your sunscreen.  We are getting ready for July in Christmas!

Jim Tressel Wants to See you at “The Main Event”:  Jim Tressel, several starters from the 2008 OSU Football Team, members of the marching band, and cheer leaders want you to join them at “The Main Event”.  Coach Tressel and the players will be talking about what it is that gets them through a long season (hint: it has something to do with Jesus).  Monday, October 27, 2008.  7:00 PM.  Save the date.  Invite your friends.  Check out this video:  http://www.themaineventonline.org/multimedia/multimedia.html.

oFFICE hELP nEEDED – YOU CAN DO IT!:  The Student Ministry needs your help.  We have lots of great things that could be done to make our ministry better but nobody to do them.  Can you serve an hour or two after school at least one day a week, most weeks?  Tell Pastor Brian (students@indian-run.org).
