I was thinking...

Happy New Year! Did you know that John Wesley (founder of our church) was big on New Year’s Eve parties? Admittedly, these may not be too similar to parties that we may have attended this year but they were celebrations none the less. Wesley believed that the eve of each new year was a great time for Christians to rededicate themselves to their Christian beliefs and to resolve to live them out in the future.

I think this is a really good idea. Many of us will make resolutions of one sort or another, a list of things we want to accomplish in the next 365 (now 364) days. What steps will you take this year to grow closer to God? Will you attend worship? Come to FX? Join a small group? Dedicate time to helping others through missions? Invite someone to join you at church? If each of us made one significant step in our faith each year, we would be blessed more than we can imagine. May you be blessed by God in this New Year.
